碳酸钠-纯碱-苏打灰_edited.jpg

Sodium carbonate is a white odorless powder or particle at room temperature. Also known as soda ash, but classified as salt, not alkali. Also known as soda ash or alkali ash in international trade.

Feature:

  • It is with water absorption ability, gradually absorbs 1mol/L moisture (about 15%) when exposed to air. Sodium carbonate is easily soluble in water and glycerol. At 20 ℃, 20 grams of sodium carbonate can be dissolved in every 100 grams of water. The solubility is highest at 35.4 ℃, and 49.7 grams of sodium carbonate can be dissolved in 100 grams of water. It is slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol and difficult to dissolve in propanol. Long term exposure to air can absorb moisture and carbon dioxide from the air, generate sodium bicarbonate, and form hard lumps.

  • Strong stability, but can also decompose at high temperatures, producing sodium oxide and carbon dioxide.

Application:

  • 1. The glass industry is a major consumer of soda ash, with a consumption of 0.2 tons of soda ash per ton of glass. Mainly used for float glass, cathode ray tube glass shells, optical glass, etc. The largest amount of soda ash is used to make glass, and generally two materials are added during glass making: sodium carbonate (Na2CO3, also known as baking soda) and potassium carbonate (Potash, potassium hydroxide). In this way, the melting point of silica soil will drop to around 1000 degrees.

  • 2. The second largest usage is in the washing industry. As a detergent used for wool washing, bath salts, and medicinal purposes.

  • 3. The food industry can be used as raw materials for baking powder and refreshing beverages; Also known as buffering agents, neutralizers, and dough improvers, it can be used for pastries and noodle products, and used in moderation according to production needs.  It can be used as neutralizer and leavening agent, such as manufacturing amino acid, soy sauce and flour food such as Mantou and bread. It can also be mixed with alkaline water and added to noodles to increase elasticity and extensibility. Sodium carbonate can also be used to produce monosodium glutamate.

  •  4. In the plastic and rubber industry, it can be used as a foaming agent.

  •  5. Used as a softening agent in the printing and dyeing industry.

  •  6. The leather industry is used for degreasing raw hides, neutralizing chrome tanned leather, and increasing the alkalinity of chrome tanned liquids.

  •  7. Used for chemical and electrochemical degreasing, electroless copper plating, aluminum etching, electrolytic polishing of aluminum and alloys, chemical oxidation of aluminum, sealing after phosphating, rust prevention between processes, electrolytic removal of chromium coatings and chromium oxide films, etc. It is also used in electrolytic solutions for pre copper plating, steel plating, and steel alloy plating.

  • 8.  Used in chemical, metallurgical, and other industries. The use of heavy soda ash can reduce alkali dust flying, reduce raw material consumption, improve working conditions, and also improve product quality. At the same time, it can reduce the erosion effect of alkali powder on refractory materials and extend the service life of kilns.

  • 9. The metallurgical industry uses it as a smelting flux, flotation agent for mineral processing, and desulfurizer for steelmaking and antimony smelting.

  • 10. Quantitative analysis serves as the benchmark for determining the acid solution. Determine aluminum, sulfur, copper, lead, and zinc. Test urine and whole blood glucose. Analyze the solubilizer of silica in cement. Metallographic analysis of metals, etc.
It can be used as a fire extinguishing agent in firefighting, and can also be applied in agricultural seed soaking, etc.
